Search Crunchbase people by professional role and investment filters

View all Crunchbase Company & Investment Data endpoints →

Discover founders, executives and investors using optional filters. query matches text in a person's name, bio matches biography text, title matches job-title text, and company restricts results to the current company identified by permalink, UUID or Crunchbase organization URL. location accepts a location permalink, UUID or name. born_after and born_before are inclusive YYYY-MM-DD birth-date bounds, while gender uses the documented categories. These optional demographic filters should not be used for discriminatory employment, credit or eligibility screening. is_investor accepts the strings true or false, and investor_type selects a documented investor category. min_exits, min_founded, min_investments and min_partner_investments are minimum counts of at least 1. max_rank is a rank cutoff of at least 1, where rank 1 is most prominent. sort defaults to rank and also accepts investments, partner_investments, exits and name. The documented name sort returns only one page. Otherwise page defaults to 1 and accepts 1 through 100; that input range is not a promise of available result volume. The supplied source response example is truncated. Its visible portion shows count, current_page and an items array containing complete person records. Visible record fields include id, uuid, name, link, image, title, short_description, rank and is_investor. company contains id, uuid, name, type, image and link; location contains city, region, country, continent, groups and ids. Activity fields include investments_count, partner_investments_count, exits_count, ipo_exits_count and diversity_spotlight_investments_count. aliases, investor_stage and investor_type also appear. Several activity fields and the aliases, investor_stage and investor_type fields are null in visible records; null is not zero. The truncated example does not establish a complete pagination envelope or every possible nested value shape. No endpoint-specific live probe response was supplied, so these response fields are source-example evidence rather than verified live results. Use returned identifiers for follow-on research without assuming a separate person-profile request is available. This search does not document verified email addresses, phone numbers, exhaustive coverage or current investment activity.

API Features

Professional Role and Employer Filters Combine name, biography and job-title text with a current-company identifier to focus on professionally relevant candidates.
Investment Activity Thresholds Apply documented minimums for investments, partner investments, portfolio exits or companies founded; these search filters are not proof of current deal activity.
Location-Based Candidate Discovery Narrow research by a location name, permalink or UUID while keeping location fields in visible source-example person records for review.
Rank and Name Ordering Controls Choose rank, investments, partner_investments, exits or name sorting. Name sorting is documented to return one page, unlike the general page input range.
Structured Candidate Identities The partial, unverified example includes person IDs and UUIDs alongside current-company and location objects for subsequent identity-based research.

Use Cases

Frequently asked questions

Is query required, and what does it match?

No parameter is required by this search contract. query matches text contained in a person's name; bio and title are separate text filters for biography and job title. An empty filter set is not a guarantee of a complete directory export.

Does company match a person's current or previous employer?

The documented filter is for the current company. Supply its Crunchbase organization permalink, UUID or organization URL. Historical employer matching is not documented.

How do investor-only and investor-type filters work?

is_investor remains a string parameter: send true for investors only or false for non-investors only. investor_type accepts the listed category strings, such as angel, individual or venture_capital; it is a separate optional filter.

What do max_rank and the minimum count filters mean?

max_rank keeps people ranked at that value or better, with 1 meaning most prominent. min_exits, min_founded, min_investments and min_partner_investments set lower bounds. Each of these integer inputs is documented to accept 1 or more; missing response counts must not be treated as zero.

Can I paginate alphabetically sorted people?

The documentation says sort=name returns one page. Other documented sort values are rank, investments, partner_investments and exits; rank is the default. page defaults to 1 and otherwise accepts 1 through 100, subject to available results.

Are the birth-date filters inclusive?

Yes. born_after means born on or after the supplied YYYY-MM-DD date, and born_before means born on or before it. Birth dates and gender are optional demographic filters and should not drive discriminatory screening decisions.

Will the results provide verified contact details?

No verified email or phone fields are documented here. The supplied example is truncated but shows person identifiers, role, company, location and activity fields, some of which are null. No live response for this operation was supplied to verify those example fields.
