Retrieve Dated Currency Exchange Rates
View all Skyscanner Flights & Travel Search endpoints →Request exchange rates with optional baseCurrency, defaulting to USD. The observed USD response contains base, date and rates as a currency-code-to-numeric-rate object, including EUR, GBP, JPY, CAD and other major currencies. The returned date was the previous day relative to the test, so display it rather than implying an instantaneous exchange rate. Keep original flight or hotel amounts and currencies when deriving application-side converted estimates, and ensure their source currency matches the conversion basis. Rates are comparison data, not bank settlement rates or guaranteed booking checkout conversions. Only the USD base was independently tested; validate returned base and rate availability for other requested currencies.

Use Cases
- Convert compatible flight and hotel search amounts into an application comparison currency while preserving their original denominations.
- Create a travel-budget export that includes original price, derived estimate, base currency and the returned exchange-rate date.
- Explain discrepancies between an application's dated conversion estimate and a seller's bank or checkout conversion rate.
- Refresh an application's exchange-rate reference separately from its route and hotel searches, validating the returned base before calculations.
Frequently asked questions
How do I use returned rates to convert flight or hotel quotes?
Check base and the required entries in rates first. For an amount denominated in base, use the corresponding target rate; for another source currency, establish the basis and required cross-rates rather than blindly multiplying. Retain the original amount/currency, rate basis and date, and do not invent a conversion when a rate is missing.
Are these instantaneous rates or guaranteed booking-payment conversions?
No. The tested date was the preceding day, so display the actual rate date. Only USD-base behavior was independently tested; validate returned base and coverage for other requests. These rates support comparison estimates, not bank settlement prices or a guarantee that a seller's checkout uses the same conversion.
