Explore a company or venture firm's investment portfolio

View all Crunchbase Company & Investment Data endpoints →

Retrieve portfolio information for an investment firm or corporate investor with GET /companies/investments. The required company query parameter accepts a Crunchbase organization permalink, UUID or full Crunchbase organization URL; sequoia-capital is the supplied example. The optional integer page parameter accepts values from 1 to 100 and has a documented default of 1. The endpoint is documented as returning 10 records per page; no adjustable page-size parameter is supplied. The documented purpose covers investments, lead-investor indicators, exits and funds, describing investments made by the selected organization rather than funding it received. The supplied response example is truncated and cannot be parsed as complete JSON. Its visible prefix includes company with id, image, link, name, type and uuid; count and current_page; diversity_spotlight_investments; and exits. Visible diversity_spotlight_investments entries contain id, name, amount_invested, announced_on, company, diversity_spotlights, funding_round, investor, is_lead_investor, partners, round_amount and round_type. Nested company identities include id, image, link, name, type and uuid; funding_round identities include id, link, name, type and uuid. The visible exits entries identify organizations with fields including id, image, link, name, short_description, type and uuid. The truncated example does not establish the complete response, any later investment or fund sections, their field structures, the precise meaning of count, or how pagination applies to each nested section. No live probe result was supplied for this operation; visible fields are unverified documentation evidence, not observed response guarantees. Amounts, dates, investor, lead status and round details are null in visible investment records. Historical portfolio records do not establish current holdings, ownership percentages or complete investment coverage.

API Features

Investor-focused portfolio lookup Use a firm or corporate investor identifier to research investments it made. This is not a lookup of funding received by the company.
Documented ten-record pages The endpoint describes 10 records per page with optional page values 1 through 100 and a documented default of 1; no page-size control is provided.
Investment-to-round references The visible documentation prefix links diversity_spotlight_investments entries to company and funding_round identities, useful for organizing portfolio research.
Nullable lead and amount fields Visible investment entries include is_lead_investor, amount_invested, round_amount and round_type, but those values can be null and must not be replaced with assumptions.
Exit organization context The partial example includes exits entries with company identifiers and short descriptions; it does not establish exit proceeds, exit dates or current ownership.

Use Cases

Frequently asked questions

Does this endpoint return investments made by a company or funding it received?

It is documented as a portfolio lookup for a venture firm or company acting as an investor. Supply that organization in company, using a Crunchbase permalink such as sequoia-capital, an organization UUID or a full Crunchbase organization URL. Do not treat it as a company funding-history endpoint.

How do I paginate a portfolio?

Use the optional integer page query parameter. Its documented range is 1 to 100, its default is 1, and the endpoint describes 10 records per page. No page-size parameter is supplied. The partial example includes count and current_page, but does not establish count semantics or how each nested section is paginated.

Are all investment, exit and fund response fields documented in the supplied example?

No. The documented purpose mentions investments, lead flags, exits and funds, but the response example is truncated and is not complete JSON. Its visible prefix shows company identity, count, current_page, diversity_spotlight_investments and exits. It does not establish later sections or a fund-item schema, and no live probe result was supplied.

Can I rely on amount_invested or is_lead_investor always being present with a value?

No. Visible investment records contain null amount_invested, announced_on, investor, is_lead_investor, round_amount and round_type values. Preserve unknown values; a null lead flag does not mean false, and a null amount does not mean zero.

Do portfolio records establish current holdings or a complete track record?

No. Historical investment and exit references do not prove a current holding, ownership percentage or complete record of investment activity. Verify those details independently and do not infer missing financial details from the partial documentation example.
