Find Where to Watch by IMDb, TMDB or Show ID

View all Streaming Availability endpoints →

Resolve one known movie or series using a show ID, an IMDb ID such as tt0120338, or a TMDB ID such as movie/597 or tv/1396. Set country to a supported lowercase two-letter code to restrict viewing options to that market; omit it to request availability across supported countries. The response is a single raw show object, not a result list. The observed Titanic lookup returned itemType, showType, id, imdbId, tmdbId, title, originalTitle, overview, releaseYear, genres, directors, cast, rating, runtime, imageSet and streamingOptions.us. Viewing-option entries included service, type, link, audio and subtitle information, with quality, price, add-on or availability dates where supplied. Group links by type rather than treating rentals, purchases and add-ons as included subscriptions. A known title may have no viewing options in a particular country. series_granularity controls documented series detail: show omits season and episode data, season includes seasons, and episode includes both. The default here is episode; use show when only title-level availability is needed. Links lead to streaming-service pages and do not bypass their access requirements.

API Features

Three identifier formats for one title Use an existing show ID, a tt-prefixed IMDb ID, or a movie/ or tv/ TMDB ID without first searching by title.
Country-keyed viewing destinations Read streamingOptions for a selected market or request the documented multi-country scope by leaving country unset.
Detail-page metadata in one object Combine the returned overview, cast, directors, genres, rating, runtime and imageSet with stable cross-catalog identifiers.
Access labels beside service links Inspect each option's type and optional add-on, price, audio, subtitle and quality fields before presenting a viewing choice.

Use Cases

Frequently asked questions

How can I find where a movie is available using its IMDb ID?

Pass the tt-prefixed IMDb ID, such as tt0120338, as id and choose a supported country code. Check business status first, then read that country's streamingOptions in the single show object. Group viewing destinations by service, type and link, and show an honest empty state when no local options are reported.

How should I pass a TMDB ID when looking up streaming links in Python?

Use movie/ followed by the numeric movie ID, such as movie/597, or tv/ followed by the series ID, such as tv/1396. Do not pass a bare number. Select country as needed and read streamingOptions from the returned object; its links are service pages, not video files.

What is the difference between omitting country and setting it to us?

country is optional for this lookup. Setting us requests US viewing options, while omitting it requests availability across supported countries. Discover supported codes through the country directory. A missing local option does not establish worldwide absence.

How can I avoid returning every season and episode for a series?

This lookup defaults series_granularity to episode, which includes seasons and episodes. Choose show for title-level metadata and viewing options, or season for season detail without individual episodes. This controls response detail, not playback access.
