Get Instagram Follower List by Username or ID

View all Instagram Data API endpoints →

Page through the accessible follower list of a public account. Pass username_or_id; leave pagination_token empty on the first request, then pass the top-level pagination_token from the previous response to continue. The live-verified response contains data.count (records in this page), data.total (the account's reported follower total) and data.items[] with id, username, full_name, is_private, is_verified, profile_pic_url and latest_story_ts per follower. A page for instagram returned 50 records against a reported total in the hundreds of millions. Treat each page as a sample: page count, reported total and collected records are three different numbers, and private accounts in the list do not expose their content.

API Features

Opaque-token pagination Continue with the top-level pagination_token and stop when no usable token is returned.
Page count plus reported total data.count is this page's record count while data.total is the account's reported follower figure — record both.
Rich follower records Each item exposes id, username, full_name, verification and privacy flags, profile picture and latest story timestamp.
Mixed public/private visibility Private followers appear with is_private=true; their content stays inaccessible.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the Instagram follower count and the follower list endpoint?

The follower count comes from the follower_count field of the profile endpoint — a single number for the whole account. The follower list comes from this endpoint, which pages through an accessible sample of follower records (data.items[]) together with the reported total data.total. The sample is not the complete list.
